![]() "PRINCES SHALL COME OUT EGYPT, ETHIOPIA SHALL STRETCH FORTH HER HANDS UNTO GOD"-PSALM 68:31 This is indeed a great day, for prophesy is being fulfilled. God moves in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform. Two thousand years ago, the Melanesians left what is now known as Tanzania in East Africa, and arrived in the Fiji Islands. From there, they eventually migrated to the neighboring islands, one of them being New Caledonia. At approximately the same time, the Polynesians left from parts of Africa and Asia, arriving in French Polynesia, New Zealand, the Hawaiian Islands, and the Cook Islands. Both groups used double edged canoes for their journey. This was a great migration. This was a great journey. The Melanesians and the Polynesians both have great navigational skills. In fact, they were traveling the high seas, long before the Europeans. This great migration which took place 2,000 years ago, is the link between the people of the South Pacific and the people of Africa. This great migration also took place, during the time of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. During this century, the people of New Caledonia have been greatly inspired by the life of His Imperial Majesty Emperor Selassie. As a result of this, some of them desired to establish the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church on their beautiful island. Their request has been granted. The island of New Caledonia has a population of 200,000 people. New Caledonia is an overseas Province of France. The majority of the population are Melanesians. The second largest group are the Polynesians. The St Tekle Haimanot Ethiopan Orthodox Tewahedo Chuch has now been established in New Caledonia, under the authority of His Eminence Abune Yesehaq, Archbishop of the Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church in the Western Hemisphere and Southern Africa. The Religious Leader is a man by the name of River Ben (Riviere Benoit). The St Tekle Haimanot Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church will try to meet the spiritual as well as the physical needs of the Melanesians and the Polynesians. This is indeed a great undertaking. However, prophesy will be fulfilled. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church will work in harmony with other Christian Churches in New Caledonia, to fulfill the social needs of the people. The St Tekle Haimanot Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church of New Caledonia will create the following institutions: 1. Cathedral 2. Monasteries 3. Hospitals 4. Medical Clinics 5. Dental Clinics 6. Colleges and Universities 7. Computer Schools 8. Homeless Shelters 9. Mission Homes for Priests in Need This is a fulfillment of prophesy. The Ethiopian Orthodox Tewahedo Church shall be a beacon light in the South Pacific. ![]() |
